If memory serves, I had at least one class with Margaret at SRHS. At any rate, I remember seeing Margaret around the campus so many years ago. Jump forward to 1969. During a brief break as a staff respiratory therapist at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, I returned to our department and was surprised to see Margaret being shown around by the boss. Margaret had recently completed training as a therapist in the Bay Area, and was interested in an opening in our department. Unfortunately, there was no time to sit and chat.
Several days later, I was shocked to hear from our boss that the new applicant (Margaret) had been killed in an October 16, 1969 auto accident in San Mateo. In a recent search of news clippings, I found the Press Democrat (October 19, 1969) notice of her death.
During my 22-years at Memorial, I worked closely with at least 6 Montgomery grads, but only 3 SRHS grads (Barbara Bowden Wishard ’66, Jim Bloedau ’66, and Linda Bloom ‘67). Frequently, being able to share stories and memories about SRHS during our breaks was a great counterpoint to the pressures of the day. There was a true camaraderie between us. I’m sorry that Margaret never became a part of that very special group. Peace to you Margaret. -Mike
