Several years ago, I saw a notice in the Press Democrat about the passing of another of our SRHS classmates, Owen Hartmann.
Owen was another acquaintance I first met in 7th-grade at Santa Rosa Junior High School. I don’t remember which classes we shared so long ago, but I remember Owen as a quiet, unassuming fellow. I would not characterize our relationship as close friends, but as with many other acquaintances, we remained amiable throughout our years at Santa Rosa High School.
To refresh my memory of Owen’s passing, I recently reviewed his obituary published in the Press Democrat, 9/2/2010. Owen was born in Missouri July 8,1947, and passed away on August 30, 2010. Apparently, Owen was a very talented machinist and mechanic who “built and rebuilt many drag race engines”.
