Lewis School in 3rd and 4th Grade

I was in Mrs. Andrews' class and remember having substitutes for long periods of time and how awful we all felt when she passed away.  Another memory is seeing Walt Disney's "Beaver Valley" movie in the auditorium one afternoon.  It was in color and showed how flowers opened (time-release photography, I think); it was really amazing for the mid-50s.  I do remember George Greene and Carleen Frazee.  I think Lewis School only went up to 4th grade in those days and that's why I had to go to Fremont for the 5th grade.

Hi Nancy,  THANKS so much for "kicking off" the Lewis School topic!  I too was in Mrs. Andrews 3rd. grade class and remember the numerous substitutes ... but not much more ... except perhaps playing amongst the big eucalyptus trees along the edge of the playground ... perhaps building something with the acorn shells and long leaves.  I moved between 3rd. and 4th grade to a house just down Humboldt St. from Fremont, so went there from 4th through 6th.

I've been thinking that it would be fun (aka ... help my aging memory) if EVERYONE on their profiles would list where they went to grammar school and Jr. High, so one could "rebuild" their classmate history.  Just a thought.

I remember George Green occasionally attended The First Congregational Church on Humboldt and Silva, that I did and where David Widney's dad was the pastor.

Will I see you in July?
