Ktwei Bonsia. I don't know his real spelling so that is the best phonetic I can come up with. I have not seen or thought about him in 30+ years and for no reason my brain popped in with his name last night. Ktwei was a Exchange Student from Ghana in my Speech class at Santa Rosa JC. He was singularly handsome student with very chieseled features.  He had a very very quiet personality.  I could see he was alone and a fish out of water so I did my best to befriend him. But you know how little time theatre people have. It's not that we are clannish, it's just that we have little time outside our circle.

Years later Harry Belafonte was at the SJCPA (San Jose Center for the Performing Arts) with his international troop. One of his ladies was from Ghana. (She's the one he did the 'Dear Liza' routine with). I started telling her about Ktwei. She said "Tuesday's child". She explained that Ghana children have the first name of the day of the week they were born on and then their family name. I said that must be confusing in a family where several children can have the same name. She said that's OK because when Mama calls, they ALL come running.

Hi, Dale -

That's a delightful tale.  Thanks for starting this topic.  I'll try to add something worthy.  Have a rewarding 2015.
